Empty table cells are extremely difficult to select with the mouse if
they are part of an empty row/column as their width is too narrow and
LyX attempts to ignore the action. Often it picks the whole table
instead.
I think we should use modifiers for that. Ex: Ctrl+click will select the
clicked cell. But that's too late for 1.5, maybe 1.5.x because the
infrastructure for advanced mouse action is already in place. Bugzilla
please.

I understand that but there is a work around: keyboard select.
