I also don't think so. It may be different (buggy?) behavior of stl or boost. Compiler optimization does not seem to be the reason (look at Bennetts post at the bug page).
Or maybe some difference in the font metrics on the Mac platform...

Yes, that may be. Bennett, can you try if changing the display fonts makes a difference?

That's it. I don't know enough about different fonts to know how to describe what works and what doesn't, but:

* Hoefler Text (Mac dfont file -- datafork TTF) gives me skipped lines.
* Times New Roman (ffil file -- ttf font suitcase) works properly
* Times (Mac dfont file) gives me skipped lines *and* does not display on the screen properly. (It comes out in a generic sans-serif font.)

Other font files behave like Times (not displaying properly); as far as I can tell, those that display improperly are all dfont files, though not all dfont files display improperly.

Some dfont files work properly, some don't. Some display properly, some don't. Some generic .ttf files work, some don't. Some fonts I have on my system show up in LyX's list of fonts, some don't. I can't see a pattern to it all.
