Can I take that as a cue to warmly congratulate the LyX crew on a
brilliant feature.  LyX has crashed on me far less frequently than,
e.g. MS Word, and furthermore every time it has, the emergency save
has been there.

So simple, so sensible.  If only other application developers thought
like that...
