Support for this is easy. I can implement that the Windows-installer checks for "platex.exe" instead of "latex.exe" when you choose japanese as LyX's menu language.

That sounds great!! So I suppose the same job is done by running configure on a unix-like system.

No, in this case you have to set the path to the platex.exe manualy in LyX's preferences under Paths -> PATH_PREFIX and then reconfigure LyX.

it seems that MikTeX is already supporting platex:

OK. So we clear this point.

I first have to test this until I can be sure.

But anyway, could you please send me a japanese .tex-file?

Here you are.

Thanks, I'll test them the next days.

CTAN is the official TeX/LaTeX file and package repository.
OK, now I understand. Then, I need to ask the author of the japanese package if he can upload it to CTAN.

Thanks. Could you please post on the list when e.g. the Japanese package is on
CTAN?

I expect it would be too late to support this package before LyX 1.5.0 directly in LyX's menus, but I could then implement this for LyX 1.6.0.

thanks and regards
Uwe
