That sounds great!! So I suppose the same job is done by running
configure on a unix-like system.
No, in this case you have to set the path to the platex.exe manualy in LyX's preferences under Paths
-> PATH_PREFIX and then reconfigure LyX.

package if he can upload it to CTAN.
