As said above, I only couldn't accept that someone very deep involved in the development process stops short before a release just because he dislike the current development style, when someone becomes that important then he is responsible and couldn't just leave. But I don't think this is the case for Georg, he starts writing his thesis, and this is much more important for him than LyX, this is totally OK.
