I mean: when using icons, you it's harder to guess which accelerator is bound to which action. With text, it is clearly indicated as _U_p, D_o_wn, etc. That's why we switched from icons to text (also in the citation dialog, for instance): text is actually more convenient for users that prefer keyboard

There are hundreds of toolbar icons which do not display the shortcut directly. Why is the TOC different? In fact the icons looking ugly is not the main problem, but the minimal width of the TOC. It nearly takes 1/3 of my horizontal screen size. So I never leave it open because of that but use the menu navigation instead.
