Lose the Beta indeed. And it is RELEASE-NOTES, not RELEASE_NOTES.
Ok.
I think I'd prefer 'ReleaseNotes' over 'RELEASE-NOTES' to be more
consistent with other wiki pages, so I used that when creating a
draft. If you think it should still be 'RELEASE-NOTES', let me know.
Anyway, I created two pages for the release notes. First one for the
release notes of some of the 'stable' releases.
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/ReleaseNotes
Then I created a similar page for the beta releases and trunk.
http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/ReleaseNotes
Given the pages above, the file ANNOUNCE of the next beta should be
changed to:
Known bugs at release time are detailed in RELEASE_NOTES, and an
updated list of bugs can be found in the LyX wiki at
http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/ReleaseNotes
And when 1.5.0 is released, that ANNOUNCE should read:
Known bugs at release time are detailed in RELEASE_NOTES, and an
updated list of bugs can be found in the LyX wiki at
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/ReleaseNotes
I'm not sure having two pages is the best solution, but on the other hand
I don't wish to confuse users with information from trunk.
Maybe release notes for the beta releases should be on the same page as
release notes for the stable releases?
I also wonder if there is a point to having release notes for more than
the latest in a series? For instance, is there any point to showing or
linking to the release notes of Beta0 or Beta1?
Is there any point to showing users the release notes of say 1.4.1?
(As I understood the RELEASE-NOTES of 1.4.4, it's relative to 1.3.7)
Comments?
(The original reason behind this thread was that ANNOUNCE didn't provide
a URI for known bugs...)

I am not sure things should become so complicated.
I'm open to suggestion - or we can just leave it.
/Christian - thoroughly confused by now
