I was a bit surprised when I joined the #LyX channel, and only
three people were on it (none of whom responded). As an open source

channels I otherwise use.
Interesting, what are u involved in?
So why no presence on the LyX channel? The LaTeX channel is
fairly active.
It's part of the LyX sub-culture. Things are done here like nowhere else
;-)
Abdel.
I personally am involved as a contributor to Plone, but am active in Zope,
Macdev, and Obj-c. There are several smaller that get lumped into channels like
macdev. I also work for a company that is a leader in the open source
community, specifically in the arena of development tools. See
http://opensource.thoughtworks.com/index.html for information on my & my
companies involvement.
I'd really like to be more involved with LyX, because it's cool, and I
think it has real potential. My primary skills aren't C++ though; Smalltalk and
Objective-C are more my thing. I may end up on a project in SF that'd be C++,
so that might change.
But in any case, few major open source projects don't have a significant
IRC presence. irc.freenode.net is just loaded with them. I'll start staying on
the #lyx channel, and who knows, maybe usage will grow.
