Thank you much for your help, redefining the 'section'
class worked fine however as you mentioned I need one
more step to make all things work.
Would it be possible to redefine the 'Chapter's as
well? the same way you did for section part.
The thing is that, I am in the middle of writing my
thesis and just realized that the university rule is
to have all the heading titles (including chapters) be
left-aligned and they seem to be very picky about
this, so now I can say that I am in trouble with this
and need help (especially I need to use AMS due to
math contests). 
I think part of my problem is that I don't know Latex
otherwise I guess I could modify the source after all
but now I don't know what to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
