This was my first patch I made for ~ LyX 4 years ago. I sent it to you from time to time but although you said it's OK you never committed it. I remember that you wanted to have the OK from the author but as GPL allows us such cleanups and as the author is a friend of mine from university times I see no problem. I just forgot my patch in the meantime otherwise I would have comitted it earlier. (While working on the moderncv stuff I recovered it.)
And having a template for the class is in my opinion very useful. I and also collegues use this template now for years so it's proven that's stable.
