In thinking about LyXLengths and the like, something occurred to me that I thought I'd share, just in case anyone else comes this way: You can't in general compare lengths, as LyX understands them. The reason is that LyX's lengths include "units" like LaTeX's \lineheight and \textwidth. (Check, say, the graphics dialog.) So comparability would involve being able to decide whether, say, 3\lineheight is <, +, or > than 0.25\textwidth, and one can't do that in general, since both of these are dynamically set.
