Good question. LyX should use %USERPROFILE% for the home dir and given that USERPROFILE is set to "C:\Documents and Settings\edwin.leuven" for you, I don't understand why it insists on //ulysse/users/edwin.leuven. Maybe some kind of translation takes place behind the scenes.
