I just messed with some old LyX files, and for some reason I had four copies of the files. My problem was figuring out which file was more recent, but unfortunately I couldn't rely on the modification time from the file systems.

This got me thinking. Wouldn't it be good to have some of kind of properties or meta information stored in the lyx file? I'm thinking of information such as:

* Original author
* Date of creation
* Last modified by
* Last modified on the date...

Checking in Open Office 1.1.5 (yes, it's old...), they show the following properties for a MS Word document that I opened:

* Created (date)
* Created by (person)
* Modified (date)
* Modified (person9
* Last printout
* Editing time (????)

Would it be a good idea to have something similar for LyX files? (I know that I've had use of this information while going through old Word files that had been copied across many different file systems).

If something like this makes sense I can add it as an enhancement request. (it's probably much to late for 1.5 anyway).

/Christian
