Err... this is already implemented. Please have another look at the navigate menu.

        4) the ability to edit the default style of floats...(?float
templates?) for
instance in this document i am working on, the style guidelines say i need each
figure to have a small v-space at the top, and a medium one at the bottom. but
in the last paper i was writting, each float needed a copyright statement at the
top. i know i can set this up with latex macros etc, but it would be so much
nicer to have a way to do it within lyx.
I think this goes beyond a general-purpose tool like LyX. If we allow to customize everything, IMHO we are in trouble (LyX becomes unmaintainable).

        5) the ability to split a document into sub-documents based on there
section
status.... ie it is oftem my work grows out off all proportion, and it would be
so nice, to be able to save it so that each section was a different file, and
the master document then just contained allot of child documents. I can do this
with cut and paste, but getting the latex preamble copyied across etc, means
this is harder than it should be in my opinion.
You can already use child documents. Only the preamble in the master document counts.

        6) this is a little bug i think, no mater which v-space option i
choose, it is
allways displayed as "Vertical Space (Default Skip)"
Yes, the vspace dialog is broken completely :-( I added a bugzilla entry today.

if there is a better forum for these comments then let me know, also
feel free
to ignore them as you see fit, i am slowly learning the Lyx code, but getting
started is a moving target when you guys are building so quickly towards a
release!
Please add new bug reports to http://bugzilla.lyx.org so that they don't get lost.

Michael
