Since I believe that \output_changes was decoupled from \tracking_changes on
purpose 1) iss not an option, so 2) is left. As I said, that will change
1.5 documents unwantedly, but that is IMHO better than doing the same to
1.4 documents.
Agreed, 2) is the only valid solution.
I am afraid I need support from someone who knows how to do that.
