using the current cvs lyx binary to look at Help->Customization, I noticed that
the status bar displays

Font: Default, Language: American
Font: Typewriter, Language: Americanan

Page down to (say) 3.6 Printer and then move the cursor up and down the screen
using the arrow keys.
