This is absolutely not the case! I privately don't know anybody who started with LyX with a previous
LaTeX knowledge. But I know many user who wrote their thesises with LyX without knowing LaTeX.
When I started LyXing I first heard the word LaTeX while reading the tutorial.
That's why I designed the installer as it is - for newbies and for normal (standard, average)
Windows users.
Btw. I was never able to convince somebody with prior LaTeX knowledge to use LyX. They don't want to
work with a program that is desinged to hide LaTeX for the users, funny but the truth.
