On WinXP Pro, sp2:

1. Abdel kindly sent me privately a new exe using qt-4. I This didn't start, as with the original download. Error message: "The system cannot execute the specified program".

2. I just downloaded 15-svn-3.04 from Berlios. This time I installed it for one user. To my surprise, it started up (splash screen is a pic of the developers, right?).

3. I then uninstalled it to see what would happen if I installed it for all users. After the installation, which seemed to go normally, when I tried to run LyX, I got the following error screen:

c:\ProgramFiles\LyX15\bin>lyx
LyX: reconfiguring user directory
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "c:/ProgramFiles/LyX15/Resources/./configure.py", line 34, in ?
def writeToFile(filename, lines, append = False):
NameError: name 'False' is not defined
LyX: Done!
LyXTextClassList::Read: unable to find textclass file `'. Exiting.

4. Ok, I thought, let's go back to the single-user. Another uninstall, another install. But this time Lyx wouldn't start either, with the same message as before.

5. By the way, in both (3) and (4) Lyx didn't find Miktex correctly: I have both 2.4 and 2.5 available, but neither seems to have been found. The suggested path to latex.exe was just c:\. Easily fixed, of course. I checked the registry, and indeed both miktex's are there: 2.4 in HKLM\software\mik and 2.5 in HKLM\software\Miktex.org.

Any suggestions?
