should look like a real windows program.

OK, forget about it. I am not going to fight for it but let me say that I think it is useful at least to get rid of the need for the batch file under windows. If you don't want a dialog, that's OK, it is not really important. But I think we can put put the setting in lyxrc.dist so that packager allows the user to choose a language.

I am all for working like
real windows programs and hiding the 'free software' habits.


The real problem is that, quite often, when you buy a French window licence, you cannot change the settings or are not allowed to. If I am forced to use a french window why should I be forced to use a french LyX?
