This looks like a very big patch for such a result. I would prefer to
avoid it if possible. In particular, one should not get too excited
over gprof output, especially when file io and maybe memory allocation
may get a big part of the time. These are not visible in the trace.

I would propose to use "time" to get real-world timings.
