No. Or yes? I coukld imagine that it implements a fake selection like we do
here. In that case we would not need to do that ourselves. Maybe somebody
who has the qt/win sources handy can have a look?

That is possible. But if qt has this and we make use of it, we have to
put format information to selection, which Abdel does not like.


No. What Enrico wants and what would be OK with me is to use the system
clipboard contents for middle mouse button paste if there is no selection
in LyX.

That is kind of OK since windows user will not complain. Still, I
object the idea because of the reasons I have given. Anyway, I like
the idea of persistent selection (valid selection until next
selection). That will make Enrico's (and my) life much easier.

I think the windows users should first agree on something they like before
we proceed any further.

I speak for them :-) that we need selection/middle-button paste, we
need a single copy/paste, not internal/external paste. I.e.

copy (C-c): copy to system clipboard (other app can paste)
paste (C-v): paste from system clipboard (also from other ap)
paste special: (optional) paste system clipboard as lines, or as paragraph.
