Ok, now I think I understand what you mean. But I also think you should
say "we shouldn't" instead of "we cannot".

As long as you know what I meant, 'can not' and 'should not' do not matter. :-)

Yes, it does. Abdel's patch was another way to use the selection thing
on Windows to do something useful.

However, I have yet to see this thing working the same on *nix and
Windows...

I have proposed these 'correct behaviors' a while ago and tried to
implement them by myself. That tree never generated any patch due to
my lack of time. Now, we are in feature freeze and I am not sure if
these behaviors can be implemented by our hero(s), and be accepted. I
do hope that we can reach a consensus on what should be done.
