I suspect it isn't really properly documented anywhere, not even in the code. I believe you need to look at LyXText::isRTL() and probably how this is being used in rowpainter.C. But there is more stuff all over the place. I wonder how this homegrown stuff interacts with Unicode. HTH Martin
