I suspect this is something that has been removed a long time ago. As
far as I know, the argument to kmod should be only a list of letters
accepting accents. So native would mean letters n, a, t, i, v and e,
if I understand correctly.

I have to admit that I do not know, and I suspect nobody really knows.
This is a very old piece of code, and not so many people seem to use
it.
