There are indeed only .so versions of iostreams installed (see the list I sent). I don't know why (the 1.33.1 devel package does not contain a static library either, so I guess this is intentional), but as I already wrote libraries should certainly be detected if only .so versions are available. And of course a message that tells which library is missing would be nice. Georg
