It would be interesting to try that out. It would certainly require some work, e.g. tex2lyx does not interpret at all some settings such as language, but simply writes them to the file as a string. If you take this to the end it would mean that tex2lyx is no standalone program anymore, but a part of LyX. > Indeed.
