BTW, both "Footnote" and "Marginal note" have toolbar buttons, and is thus already easily accessible, while several of the suggested entries for "Break" and "Space" are not accessible at all form any menus or toolbar buttons, which make them totally inaccessible for those without knowledge of LaTeX code,

Which means that you don't want to see them in sub-submenus as proposed by John, right?

If we extract all "break" and "space" commands from "Special formatting", the latters becomes very strange. There are mainly subscript and superscript left. (what do we do with horizontal lines?) I wonder whether sub/superscript should be moved to "Edit=>Text Style...". John may say that the menus become unbalanced in that case (too much stuff in "edit").

A good and intuitive UI isn't really simple to achieve. We should ask John about his opinion. And we really should achieve consensus before changing the UI.
