For LyX/Mac, I suppose that the fact that one cannot start from
GUI is
problematic...
On the other hand since this is an alpha release I expect that
our target
will not care (too) much about this detail. We should document this
in the
wiki as well.

I'm happy to provide one, but the warnings against using it for any
real work should be pretty strong. I wonder whether what I provide
should include debug info, with instructions for people to run it via
gdb. That alone might (properly) scare off people who might
mistakenly think this release is usable on Mac. Does that sound
reasonable?
By the way, I'm mostly switched over to an Intel Mac now; I do have a
PPC Mac that I can use, but it's not convenient. Should I provide
binaries for both at this stage? (I certainly can for a real release.)
