I rather think it is work-in-progress. If I get it correctly it let's you obtain new symbols by combining keystrokes. For example, if in mathed you write << you automatically get \ll, or you type -> and get \rightarrow, and so on. It is a nice idea and it is already implemented in texmacs. Another nice thing to have would be TAB cycling through symbols. For example, you type -> and get \rightarrow, then you press TAB and the \rightarrow becomes \Rightarrow, and so on until returning to -> again. -- Enrico
