Good! We should do this then. At some point we should perhaps reorganize the list of classes (tree-style?). I really wouldn't mind having all lyx-supported layouts in LyX. For class files perhaps a bit more conservative: for journals they should be taken from the journal's site if the version there is official. Here we should consider that the LyX layout format is a lot less stable than the (La)TeX used for writing class files. Even with layout2layout. OTOH installing class and layout files is a pain for non-specialists. They all stumble over texhash... a solution might be to add one or more "lyx-extras" packages that collect all the journals' .cls + .layout files (discipline-wise?) in neat installable packages for your distro. - Martin
