André, if you want to be honest about this then you should also remove gtk.
That has less supporters than qt3 had, is not even functional (and never
was) and takes more work to keep it up to date, because you can't simply
copy qt4 code.

I personally have no problems with this line of thought.

Exactly. FYI, copying Abdel's latest reorganization of the font stuff from
qt4 to qt3 and adapting it took me a bit more than half an hour. What is
really eating time is searching bugs in complicated, undocumented code
that we e.g. have in the tabular insets.

The tabular stuff is pretty much self-contained in four files
(tabular.{Ch}, insets/insettabular.{Ch})

It shares a lot code with LyXText though.

If people were really interested in fixing tabular stuff
they just should do that.
