LyX has never tried to be particularly nice to new users, and I don't
think we should be now. Of course when a solution is good both for
advanced (read: users that has used lyx for a while) and new users
then we should use such a solution. But selecting a solution to a
problem or feature just because it is good to new users does not seem
to be the way to go. IMHO therein you find bloat and feature
mangolomia.

(So. "good for new users" triggers a knee-jerk reaction from me...,
and remember that a new user is only new the very first seconds.)
