Word has no additional menu options but saves different settings for
context-sensitive toolbars.
For example, for the picture toolbar you have two different settings.
One on/off setting when working on normal text and one on/off setting
when a picture is selected. Word remembers both.
Whenever you enable the toolbar in normal text mode, it is also enabled
automatically in the picture mode. Of course disabling the toolbar in
picture mode also causes it to be disabled in the normal text mode.
If we apply this method to the LyX math and table toolbars the menu can
stay like it is. To summarize:
Math toolbar enabled outside math -> set normal setting and
math-specific setting to on.
Math toolbar disabled outside math -> set normal setting to off.
Math toolbar enabled inside math -> set math-specific setting to on.
Math toolbar disabled inside math -> set normal setting and
math-specific setting to off.
The result is the same as the on/off/auto system.
Of course this does not apply to toolbars like review that can be used
in all situations. Here you only have to remember a single setting.
Bo, would it be possible to add this to your LyX 1.5 session management
system?
After it's there I think the toolbar management should also go into 1.4.
