I discovered that what I report above occurs only when compiling dt2dv using mingw. Using cygwin, dt2dv consistently fails for every non-ascii char, as I would expect. I don't know what is going on with mingw, however the patch that I attached at http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2836 solves both bug 2835 and 2836 (which really are the same bug) for mingw and cygwin. The sources for the dtl tools are not anymore in development/Win32, so I cannot apply the patch. I expect that Joost tries the patch with MSVC and accordingly updates development/Win32/patches/dtl.patch. -- Enrico
