The problem is that is always the same argument, really.
That is why sometimes we (Lars and Co.) are deaf from hearing the same
argument over and over... ;-)
AFAIK, on this particular case (spellchecker), you, Georg, Hedge, maybe
even JMarc all agree with my plan, or don't you?
If yes then you are saying that we are all wrong except Lars.
Of course I could provide support for aspell, ispell, Enchant and the
controller reorg in one big patch. But that does not fit very well with
the one-commit/one-logical-change rule. I don't like Lars way of
developing, why should I be forced to use it?
As JMarc pointed out, I have a (maybe bad) tendency to rewrite if I see
some design flaws. That's because I don't want to work on something
which is bad and will continue to stay bad.
On the other hand you have more credit because you have doing interesting
work. It is always a delicate balance and believe me that we had this
conversation at least several times a year over the last ten years. :-)
If I have earned some credits from you (thanks by the way ;-)) I should
be allowed to experiment with something as simple as the spellchecker
without that big fuss. This spellchecker is just an illustration case of
a more general problem.
I would like occasional readers of the devel list (as I once was) to
feel invited to contribute something instead of being afraid (like I
was). But I know that this will not happen because of your big trauma in
your childhood... :-)
