The (very old) -nw switch was intended to start LyX without gui.
This never has been possible, so the switch was ignored (which is broken behaviour as
well).
The best current solution probably is to set nogui to false in any case
until all of the nogui stuff is in and working.
And that means we have to find the LyXText bug first if I understand Lars correctly :-)
