Mathed is not very good at handling unkown math array constructs. I do
not know whether a workaround exists. Alejandro had plans to define
arbitrary arrays, but I've never seen the code :(

LaTeX in itself is not supposed to change... However, LyX is supposed
to adopt the new macros when they become widespread, but this process
takes time.
