Hi ! Congatulations for your nice work. Lyx is a great piece of software and a much better alternative than a traditional wordprocessor. I've read in the latest developement News that some of you are coding a new version of insets. Would it be possible to optionally unfold insets in a future version of Lyx not as boxes under the paragraph where they are inserted but to open all insets of a certain type (for exemple footnotes) in a separate window. (or Bufferview if I understand well Lyx jargon) and to keep some sort of synchronicity between the main window and the inset's window. I was thinking of something similar to the way footnotes are handled in MsWord. This feature would be very useful to an user like me who tends to write long footnotes (one or two paragraphs) and to cut and paste a lot between them.
