I have been working on my own set of icons for LyX for some time now,
mostly for my own enjoyment. I took the Gnome icon set, resized them to
fit inside of the xforms buttons and added a few of my own. I even added
a few lines of code to toolbar.C and added the buttons, new, fax, undo,
redo, spellcheck, insert citation, layout character, layout paragraph,
layout document, and insert crossreference. Ralph Doring actually posted
the code to the list some time back and I made good use of it.
I took a screenshot and posted it:

If you like you can have the icon set for any development, I can commit
them to cvs, but they are 16-bit color icons and not 8-bit so perhaps
they can be of use latter on. I can also add icons to the existing 8-bit
set if you like, just let me know. I have some free time this weekend to
work on them.
