I've had a look at you file. I think there was a small problem with the \et a
rather that \eta. I fixed it and sure enough it crashes.
Anyway, I've noticed that if you try XDVI-ing when the equaiton is inline it
core dumps. However, if it is not inline then it is fine.
It dumps regardless of the font encoding.
I found if you remove the parameter between the parentheses following x, ie
x(eta) the it's fine. Weird.
The file works fine if you export as tex then run latex externally.
I'm not a programmer so I don't know why. I've included the output when using
lyx -dbg 1
