What I've realized is that you can write something like this:
\begin{equation}
g^{n}_{ij}=
\begin{cases} 0& \text{ADD CONTENT HERE } \\
1& \text{ADD CONTENT HERE }
\end{cases}
\end{equation}
Where I wrote "ADD CONTENTS HERE" above you can enter equations using
LyX's math functionality. So you're not reduced entirely to raw LaTeX
to use cases.
