Hello!

My name is Pablo De Napoli , and I work at the mathemathics department of
Buenos Aires University (Argentina).

Lyx is great! so the first think I should say is : Thank you!
Before I get to know lyx, I used to spend a lot of time just writting
my papers and correcting them.

I've tried "Scientific Word" , but is not as good as LyX , since like most
windows programs it is mouse-dependent. To enter a math symbol you have to
click with your mouse the symbol panel ... this makes it too slow.
Using lyx is faster because you may enter the LaTeX commands just like in
LaTeX

Besides of that Lyx is free software , and let me tell you that I love
linux ! (and the gnu programs). So lyx is just what I was expecting!

Let me make a few suggestions , to improove this good points of LyX:

1) To make Lyx faster and easier to use , it would be nice to be able to
enter a big \ just like in latex (I mean \left( ) (or pèrhaps there is
a shot-cut I don't know)

2) In the () menu from the math panel , there should be a button "Both"
(besides "Right" and "Left" , since this is what we mean most of the time.

3) I also suggest that combinations of keys like ctrl+arrow could draw the
corresponding arrow (I mean: this would be easy to remember)

4) There are several latex options wich are aveliable from lyx (of course
I don't expect to have all the latex features) : for example why don't we
have theorems , lemmas ,etc. in the standard latex article ?

We could add an option to the lyx menu "New Theorem-like tag" , and the
user could enter the name of the new theorem-like tag and choose how to
remember (like in the latex preambule)

I work in mathemathics , but sometimes (as a hobby) I write some programs
; so perhaps I would like to make some contribution to lyx (for example
making some of this minor modifications). But I couldn't get CVS working
yet! (so I could not get the latest sources)

I also wold like to make another suggestion: I heard there is a user
interface toolking like libforms , but it is free (The Fast Light Toolkit,
see the debian distribution). If it were posible to port LyX to this
clone, Lyx would become a fully GNU program!

Thanks for all
                                Pablo De Napoli
