In the case of author, it has the nice property that you just put
multiple author entries to have several authors. This seems very
intuitive to me. I do not know whether this would be useful for
anything else but author. Adding the layout tag is trivial, and
implementing it should be firly easy for someone who knows his way in
the LaTeX writing routines.
