Hello everybody,

Lyx version 1.0.3 works perfectly with Encapsulated Postscript (EPS)
files. However, if you are a stupid user like me then from time to time
you accidentally generate a PS file instead of an EPS file.
Unfortunately, when you use these files in Lyx, Lyx will crash. Here is
a typically error message:

aegir:/home/schmitt.508 % lyx bericht.lyx
BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Abort
aegir:/home/schmitt/VST/Bericht.509 % X Error of failed request:
BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GetWindowAttributes)
Resource id in failed request: 0x440007d
Serial number of failed request: 8
Current serial number in output stream: 9

Of course, I do not ask you to support PS files but would it be possible
to make a check whether a EPS/PS file is valid? I took me about two
hours to find out what's going on, because I changed the EPS file in an
PS file on the fly i.e. while working with Lyx. When I checked in the
latest version of my report using version control, LyX reloaded the
document and then I finally got the report. Of course, it was quite
difficult to find out the real cause of the crash.

Michael
