I continually check that it works out okay for the standard book layout
that is used for the Docs.

I put it in there on the (perhaps mistaken) belief that floatflt appears
in most modern TeX distributions (teTeX and NTeX both have it). I guess
there is now one counterexample in emTeX.
I will take responsibility for removing it from Extended in a sensible
way. However, floatflt is used as a "standard" feature of LyX - it is used
when you enter something in the "Extraopt" page of Layout->Paragraph. In
my mind, this makes it a somewhat required feature and thus we cannot
delete the documentation nilly-willy.
In fact, the more I think about this, perhaps we need a more detailed list
of things we "require" in the LaTeX setup (this will halt the url debate,
since url.sty is included in things like teTeX). I think I would rather
make floatflt and (url) required rather than eliminate the documentation.
We make some assumptions about the existence of other packages; where is
the line drawn between what is required and optional?
I will still try to clean up Extended, but I wouldn't mind hearing more
discussion about this issue.
