You've probably noticed my absence from the list (then again maybe not)
I'm still around although trying very hard to finish my PhD and more
importantly get my back fixed up. I stuffed one of the disks in my lower
back two weeks ago and haven't been very mobile since.
Which leads me to reiterating a point I made in January/February (?)
I have two months left to finish my PhD before the scholarship money runs
out so as you can imagine I will be concentrating on that. The only bugs
I'm likely to be fixing in that time are those which directly affect me.
Consequently, it will be at least another two months before I get any more
GUI independence work done. I do intend to complete it but I just can't
spare the time right now.
I will remain on the mailing list and try my best to keep up-to-date with
developments and even participate in discussions when I can (lunch times
for example).
I figured I should make this statement now in time for the TILDEM. I have
been trying to get the GUI indep document updated but all I've done at
present is gather together a few relevent emails that I want to
incorporate. Mostly arguements for/against different methods of achieving
our goals and some discussion of alternate GUI's such as Mozilla's
NGLayout GTK+ widget and wxforms.
