As a workaround, perhaps you could enter it as
foo {n}nn: bla bla
Then turn the { and } into TeX-mode (makes them appear red). This seems to
work. It was probably not noticed before since it appears only with Spanish
as the language. when I tired it with my default language (US English) the
bug did not appear.
