If you get 1.0.2 (or better 1.0.3pre2), you will find that the CHANGES
file mentions, among others:

- Cleaned the bibtex code and moved to Buffer (Ale)
- Citation support for multipart documents using the same old trick (Ale)
- Now parent and children buffers can share the same reference list (Ale)
- Listing of bibtex labels from the bib file (patched by Lgb)

Try it out. I think you will like it.

It seems that there are deep technical reasons why this is not
possible. Several LaTeX wizards tried and failed :(

You can however nest input'ed files.
