bibtotoc no work with 1.0.3pre2

i gotta get bibliography (bibtex generated refs) to show as a TOC item.
layout->Document->Extra Options   add 'bibtotoc' or 'bibtotocnumbered'
dont work.

am i being really dumb ?. If, so could some kind soul talk me through it
like a dummy.
Or, is it not working for other poeple ??
