That's why some of us do our best to avoid real life as often as possible.
Even if grad school is as real as we get.

I've mentioned before (and John confirmed) that section 5.4 of Customization
really needs an overhaul. (It even says so in the docs!)
Of course, one problem with this is that it's about internationalization, so
English writers don't want to work on it, but non-native English writers
don't usually want to write English documentation.
With that in mind, I hereby announce that if someone writes some new docs
for this which *accurately* describes LyX's internationalization features, I
will translate them from English to English. I'll correct spelling, grammar,
and punctuation, (regular readers of this list have seen that that's all I'm
really good at anyway) maybe even throw in some "dumb as a potato[e]" jokes.
(Speaking of which, now that I've read John's stuff about humor being
culture-specific, I think we may need to create some British translations of
the documentation. "'e's as dumb as a lorry-driving crumpet! He couldn't
make thruppence with that ha'penny idea! God save the Queen!")
So please, one of your foreigners :) write some docs about this....

Perhaps a better idea would be for John, you, and anyone else who has ideas
to cobble together a list of changes to be made. We could use
[EMAIL PROTECTED], but I don't know if anyone other than me subscribed
yet :) It might be better to have a group discussion about the large issues
(if any), rather than moving around one section at a time.
I think we need to define what each file is really for. For example, the LyX
server doesn't belong in Customization either, according to your definition.
What belongs in UG vs. Extended? Should more things be added to tutorial?
Taken away? I haven't read many of the docs in a while, but I'm sure there
are Issues. Besides, I like talking.
I changed the section on translating documentation. I told people to read
the developer's translation page, and the translator's section of DocStyle.lyx.
John, I think you may want to consolidate this information into
DocStyle.lyx. Make a section on the "background details" that are related to
filenames, contacting the lyx-doc folks, and that sort of thing, rather than
the details of translating English->Foonian.
One more note. Why is the Insert->Url documentation in the LyXDoc section?
It's used in UG, which is a regular book textclass...
